HOME-BASED DAYCARES

Do you want to open a home-based daycare?

Did you know...
  • Home-based educational daycare is a service provided by a person in a private home in exchange for compensation?
  • The person who operates a home-based daycare is self-employed, i.e., she owns her daycare?
  • A home-based daycare that takes 7 to 9 children must be recognized by a coordinating office (CO)? If the provider takes less than 6 children, the recognition is not mandatory, but can be requested.
  • A home-based daycare provider may take 7 to 9 children if there are an assistant?
  • A recognized home-based daycare must comply with a regulation governing the ages of the children in its group?
  • A home-based daycare recognized by a CO can offer parents reduced contribution spaces ($7 per day per child) if the CO assigned it such places from the number of reduced contribution spaces it has?

For more information on opening a home-based daycare, see this section on the ministère de la Famille et des Aînés site (only in French).
